Brain

photo of human brainThe human brain is an enchanted loom where millions of flashing shuttles weave a dissolving pattern, always a meaningful pattern, though never an abiding one. It is as if the Milky Way entered upon some cosmic dance.

Sir Charles Sherrington

It is often stated that the human brain is the most complex organism in the Universe, and its fascination increases the more we learn about it. The other statement that is made about the brain is that it is like a sleeping giant: it has vast power, but we typically use very little of it, perhaps only 4%. Learning about the brain is therefore vital for the learner. Not only is it an exciting adventure, but it also builds up our expectations of what we are capable of. This track provides an introduction to some of the major features of the brain.
