PhD Brainware Workshops:
students' comments

student's commentI’m really pleased to see these workshops being run. Thanks for your efforts!
Computer Science

Very good workshop. Really helped with increasing my understanding of what the PhD process is about and where the viva fits in. Thanks.
Veterinary Science

The workshops in general were illuminative in that they transmitted the message of optimism, that ‘all is not lost’ when you’re in the middle of your PhD and feel stranded. It is encouraging to know that there are ways of dealing with the traps and problems that arise, and through the workshops these ways became more accessible.
Applied Linguistics

It’s good to see other people sharing similar views. Relaxed and friendly.
Civil Engineering

Have been encouraged to talk about my PhD with my supervisor - thank you!
Social Sciences

Very grateful for the viva, although mine is very far away. Gave me some reality into the fact that I’m actually doing a PhD, not just writing essays. Has been very good to come here, see other PhD students and to find out they are in the same situation as me, with many of the same problems and experiences.
Social Sciences

Very useful, both in practical terms and in terms of providing psychological support.
Applied Linguistics

Found it very helpful to ‘just’ be with others in similar situations: a kind of ‘existential’ support. Also some useful practical tips. My anxiety level feels much lower after this afternoon’s session.
Community Health

Interesting concepts raised. Deals with issues not covered elsewhere. Encouraging that problems associated with a PhD are largely not academic and are experienced by other students.
Epidemiology

Thank you - it was a great experience!
Artificial Intelligence
