Personal Development
Brainware is fundamentally holistic or whole-person in its outlook. It thus recognises that the individual is a complex, multi-dimensional being, and that to function well all the parts must work harmoniously together. The implication for the learner is that one should be aware of all the factors which contribute to one's effectiveness. These include, for example, what you eat and drink, how you cope with the various stresses of life and how you develop and maintain enthusiasm for all your endeavours. It is the purpose of the Personal Development track to explore these wider issues which contribute to your personal effectiveness and self-growth. The central message is that one should nurture and look after oneself, increase one's self-knowledge and develop a number of key survival skills.
Elements of Personal Development
The Personal Development track consists of the following four sub-tracks:
- This explores various components of our life-style, such as diet and exercise, and how these contribute to our state of well-being.
- This sub-track examines some key personal characteristics, such as our level of self-esteem and personality type, and assesses how they contribute to our effectiveness and well-being.
- The specific skills considered here are assertiveness and public speaking, both of which can make a significant impact on our learning and life.
- The Negativity sub-track explores the challenge of dealing with failure and criticism.
